So here I am once again with a new project lined up. Ten little boards waiting to be gessoed.
Here, in process of cutting out. I had to take this picture because I couldn't believe how small I was working!
Something mysterious about these guys floating in the sky. O, and that suspicious shadow in the corner is rolled up paper hanging out of a pail (not my nose).
These are in no way finished pieces. Just some of the cutting out I've done so far. Each panel is 3in. x 4in., so you can see it's ridiculously small.

This is the new tote bag I have been working on. The colour is very difficult to get across however. I had to do the same image twice. I guess it's the same for computers as for printers in that, colour combinations are difficult to pull off. The image on the right is the more accurate one.
Just a reminder that this MailmeArt piece will be one of many showing at the Redgate Gallery in London, England starting tomorrow evening. All the pieces are for sale as well as a book that's been published of the works.
Anyway, this and some other items will be posted in my shop by the end of the week. Do have a look and let me know what you think of the new work.
By the way, if you haven't noticed, I found this great new gadget that I added to the right side bar. It's a translator. I had a couple of people from other countries who've left comments and I thought it might be so much easier if they could translate these pages. (let's hope it works out o.k.)Just a reminder that this MailmeArt piece will be one of many showing at the Redgate Gallery in London, England starting tomorrow evening. Jordan is having a show on Dundas. If you have time, check it out.
I've been working on a really nice new bag design that I'm quite excited about. My favourite fabric shop has some lovely new linen blend that I'm working with. I will try to get the images up later.
On top of that I have some applications to fill out this week for up coming shows. More about that later.
And then I have my regular September show that I'm preparing for.

I have been invited to participate in the Mail Us Art Project in Warsaw, Poland. How exciting! I know this project has a huge following.

postcards
I didn't get to Bracebridge on the weekend and it's just as well as it sounded like there was some wild storm to drive through on the way back. I do hope that everyone did well though.
Instead, I busied myself making postcards for all the correspondence that I'm anticipating with postcrossings. Above is
Step 1. cut the postcards from 25in. x 30in. heavy stock and prepare the back with ruled lines and rubber stamps.
Step 2. Here you can see the backs. I can't tell which stamp I like best.
Step 3. Print all my silk screened birds (well, not all of them)
Step 4. More rubber stamping.
Step 5. Colour them in and have fun!
I had a request for a postcard from someone in New York and that's what really got me on a roll. At the same time, it's not a bad little project when you find yourself procrastinating about something else (or when you can't go on a road trip).
By the way, the background paper in these photos is from Kid Icarus in Kennsington Market, Toronto.

Just made another sale at the shop...yea...my little chickadee work apron. What a great way to start the weekend! I'll have to re-list it.
I'm off to the Muskoka Arts and Crafts Show up in Bracebridge on the weekend. It should be just beautiful. Hope yours is too.

I'll write more later, gotta go back to the studio and get some more stuff going...

The other day I was checking out flickr and found a link to a group lwa (letters writers alliance). From there I found postcrossing which I joined. The above postcard I whipped up while making some other silk-screened cards and it will be sent off tomorrow to someone in Colorado. From there I will begin to receive postcards from random members all over the world. How cool is that?
Just a final note: Happy Birthday, Jordan

Went to the TOAE on the weekend. Because of the renovations going on there the show was about 150 exhibitors smaller. It was noticeable in there were artists there from past years that I didn't see. But on the bright side there were a number of new people I hadn't seen before. Sheila Norgate from out west was new to the show. I really liked her mixed media pieces. I've mentioned her sister, Leslie before, whose work is quite different but just amazing. Michelle Purchase was there after not being able to get in although why I can't imagine.
I must have had a great time (although, abrupt) because I came home and started printing. Still not sure about the turquoise though.
So I ended up making it into a very dark grey which I really liked. Sorry about the blurry image.

Thinking of having a sale of some things at the shop. Why not take a look around and let me know if there's anything you're interested in?
Have a great weekend. I'm off to the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibit.

Remember this?
Well, nothing's been done on it since except a bit of research for new materials. In the process I found a funny tutorial you might like to check out.

Birthday wishes for Doris McCarthy on her 100th birthday. If anyone can be seen as an inspiration, it must be her.

Major changes are to happen in the studio. There is so much stuff in there that it's downright embarrassing. I would throw much of it out and start all over but then you never know when you might need that thing. It's a dilemma. But now it would seem that the main computer (which currently is in the coolest place in the house(which is great in the summer but not so much in the winter) needs to come closer to the other computers so the connection isn't so sketchy. Translation:it's coming into my studio.

There are two birthdays to celebrate today.
She is considerably younger than the country (and will always be)HAPPY BIRTHDAY
ZAV
I've been working on some new images and colours. These are what I've come up with so far. Let me know what you think as I can't quite decide. I would love to try turquoise but have to get to the store (today being a holiday and all...)
